Woody Allen’s forthcoming London-set comedy “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger” has received its North American one sheet and it’s….pretty plain and ordinary. Well, Woody Allen films are never known for having particularly groundbreaking visual marketing but the poster for his latest film seems even more uninspired than usual.
The film boasts a large ensemble cast including Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts, Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins, Freida Pinto, Gemma Jones and Lucy Punch so perhaps unsure who to put on the poster, the designers have just gone with a generic (and kinda cornball) silhouette with some bigger names in the cast listed. Whatever, not worth getting too worked up over though it did sort of remind us of the poster for “Manhattan Murder Mystery.”
“You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger” premiered this past spring at Cannes where it received mild and mixed reviews. We missed it then, but we’re always up for a new Allen film so we’ll check it out when it opens on September 22nd. [Movieline]
