I’m not familiar with singer, actress and Disney channel star Zendaya mostly because I’m An Old, but there’s no doubt that the young talent is on the rise in a big way. She’s taking big steps toward the next part of her career, landing a role in Hugh Jackman‘s “The Greatest Showman On Earth,” and course, in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” And it’s who she’s playing in the latter that’s raising lots of eyebrows.
The Wrap reports that Zendaya will be taking the iconic role of Peter Parker’s love interest, Mary Jane Watson. When she was first cast, official reports said that she’d be playing “Michelle,” but perhaps that was just a bit of subterfuge as the production was gearing up, which is not uncommon with these kinds of blockbuster films. And there will likely be more surprises to come from ‘Homecoming’ which has been keeping as much as possible under wraps.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” opens on July 7, 2017.
