Zoe Kravitz Talks Charlize Theron & Tom Hardy's 'Fury Road' Feud

You probably don’t need to be reminded that there was no love lost between Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy during the making of “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Both actors tried their best to play down the rumors, and Hardy even went so far as to apologize to director George Miller at Cannes for being “frustrated” during the making of the movie. But even Theron would later say, “From what I hear, he’s not like that on every movie — I hear he’s had good experiences,” while Hardy himself conceded that, at times during productions of a film, “I’ve been a dick.” Now another insight into the Theron/Hardy battle comes from one of their co-stars.

Zoe Kravitz stopped by “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” and confirmed that the pair didn’t gel on ‘Fury Road,’ but also attributed some of that friction to crazy working conditions that came with the ‘Mad Max’ sequel.

“Yeah…They didn’t get along,” she said.

“We were also in the desert for so long. I think everyone was tired and confused and homesick and we saw nothing but sand for six months. It’s just, you go crazy, you do,” Kravitz revealed, adding, “I actually don’t know if it was one issue. I just think they weren’t vibing.”

It speaks to the talent of Hardy, Theron, and Miller that despite pushing each other’s buttons, everyone still managed to make one of the best action movies in years, and one the best films of 2015. It’s a pretty towering achievement, so maybe there’s something to be said about creating art through a struggle. [EW]
