It was smart choices that led Matthew McConaughey‘s McConaissance, and he’s going to keep going down that path. We’ll see him on the big screen later this year in Christopher Nolan‘s "Interstellar," he’s gearing up to shoot Gus Van Sant‘s "Sea Of Tress" and now it appears he’s lining up "The Company Man." The Black List script by Andrew Cypiot tells the true story of CIA agent Edwin Wilson who "went behind enemy lines to secure a weapons contract and report information back to the CIA shortly after the Cold War. He had a meteoric rise until company policies changed and he was unceremoniously fired. Even after, he continued to operate as a man without a country and became public enemy No. 1 to the U.S. Attorney’s office." This project is in the process of finding a director, before it will be shopped around, so it’s a bit of a way off at the moment. [Deadline]
Michael Caine appears to have nothing better to do and has joined Vin Diesel and Rose Leslie in "The Last Witch Hunter." The Breck Eisner film will follow "an immortal witch hunter who partners with his natural enemy, a female witch, to stop the covens of New York City from unleashing a plague on humanity." [THR]
Amy Ryan, Alan Alda, Billy Magnussen and Eve Hewson are all in talks to join Tom Hanks in Steven Spielberg‘s upcoming cold war thriller. The film will tell the story of "James Donovan, an attorney who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible mission to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot."
