Rami Malek & Director Cary Fukunaga Refute Claims There Is Trouble On The 'Bond 25' Set

All the news coming from the production of the upcoming “Bond 25” seems to point to the set having a bit of a curse. We’ve joked about it before, but with everything happening, from pre-production and through the production that is currently happening, there is just a new story every week about what calamity has befallen the Daniel Craig-led film. Well, thankfully, we have good news to report about “Bond 25.” According to some of those involved, everything is going swimmingly.

Recently, Rami Malek spoke to Digital Spy about the status of “Bond 25.” For those not following the news, Malek has signed to play the villain in the film, but not much is known about the plot or his character. But as the actor says, he’s enjoying his time on set and is excited to work with Craig.

“I haven’t shot with Daniel yet, but I’m thrilled to work with him,” he said.

He added, “We’ve already filmed in Norway for a week. That’s where I got to work with [director] Cary Fukunaga and our incredible cinematographer, Linus Sandgren. They are a great team. So far, so good. So far, so great.”

When talking about the script, which has been the source of many news items (with most being negative), Malek wants fans to know that everything is great.

“It’s another extremely clever script from the people who have figured out exactly what people want in those movies,” said the actor. “And yeah, it’s a great character. I am very excited. I can’t wait to shoot more soon.”

As for the on-set drama that seems to be plaguing the film, with the aforementioned script rumors, the injury to Daniel Craig, the wild explosion, and other issues that have made headlines, the actor was quick to share good stories from the set.

“But the thing is, Daniel was injured, so they are shooting what they can,” said Malek. “I talked to Cary yesterday and the schedule has been altered. I know that. But with a franchise like this, I think they have it together. They have it figured out by now.”

Considering Malek’s recent history with troubled productions, if he’s glowing about ‘Bond 25,’ it would stand to reason that everything is likely okay. So, that’s something that can help Bond fans sleep well tonight.

One of the more recent rumors (and we must stress the rumor aspect) comes from a report from British tabloid The Sun. The report said that there is “mutiny” on the set of ‘Bond 25’ stemming from director Fukunaga’s tardiness to the set due to his obsession with video games. Many rightfully found this ridiculous, while other outlets did actually run the rumor. This led to the filmmaker going to his Instagram to refute the rumors.

“As for my PS4 relationship, if my [‘Red Dead Redemption 2’] progress is any indication, it’s been stunted at 63% for months and if anyone spoils the end for me before I wrap on [‘Bond 25’] I’m going to be pissed,” wrote Fukunaga.

“Bond 25” is scheduled to hit theaters on April 8, 2020. And shortly thereafter, Fukunaga will likely share his thoughts on ‘Red Dead.’
