Netflix, Apple, Disney, and WarnerMedia can sit there and sign massive producers, actors, and filmmakers to these nine-figure deals to develop streaming content for their platforms all day long. Those projects are great for gaining headlines and some viewership, but they’re not the foundation for a quality library. And that’s proven by the surprise hit Netflix series “The End of the F**king World.” The offbeat series, in its fairly short first season, showed that quality storytelling and an interesting premise is really all you need.
Now, in its second season, which is coming to Netflix next week, the series is returning to an eager audience that can’t wait to see what happens next. Without giving much away, the second batch of episodes picks up where the first season left off with Alyssa trying to figure out what to do next. But when she meets Bonnie, things begin to change once again. And for added interest, the new trailer features a cover of Billy Idol’s “White Wedding,” performed by Graham Coxon of Blur.
The series stars Jessica Barden and Naomi Ackie. “The End of the F**king World” is written, once again, by Charlie Covell, based on the comic books by Charles Forsman. Directors Lucy Forbes and Destiny Ekaragha are on board to helm the episodes of this second season.
Season 2 of “The End of the F**king World” premieres on Netflix on November 5.
Here’s the synopsis:
Alyssa (Jessica Barden, The Lobster) is still dealing with the fallout of the events of the first series. The second series sees the introduction of the new character of Bonnie, played by BIFA-winning Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth, the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode IX). Bonnie is an outsider with a troubled past and a mysterious connection to Alyssa.
