Hollywood marketing is fairly predictable. You start with a movie or a TV series. About 6 months out, you release a teaser (normally, about a minute or so in length). Then about a month or two later, you release a full trailer. Then come the TV ads, shorter clips, and the other bits and pieces that arrive in the three weeks or so before the release date. But Netflix laughs in the face of conventional marketing. In the case of “Another Life,” the streaming service decided to release a teaser and the first full trailer in the same week. MIC DROP!
That’s right, just two days after the streaming service released a minute-plus teaser for its upcoming sci-fi series, “Another Life,” which debuts at the end of the month, Netflix goes and says, “You like that? How about a full trailer then?”

Of course, that isn’t an indictment for the quality of the series, as the trailers paint the picture of a pretty intriguing show with a strong cast and high production value. Who doesn’t want to see “Battlestar Galactica” legend Katee Sackhoff in another space adventure? Especially considering she’s seemingly Earth’s last hope after some aliens threatened us with a mysterious artifact from space.
Add to the mix the fact that series comes from Aaron Martin, who is the creator and writer behind the underrated horror series “Slasher” and you’re surely in for a treat with “Another Life.”
Joining Sackhoff in the cast are Justin Chatwin, Tyler Hoechlin, Selma Blair, and Samuel Anderson.
“Another Life” debuts on Netflix on July 25.
Here’s the synopsis:
When a mysterious alien Artifact lands on Earth, Commander Niko Breckinridge (Katee Sackhoff) has to lead humanity’s first interstellar mission to its planet of origin, while her husband (Justin Chatwin) tries to make first contact with the artifact back on earth. Another Life explores the miracle of life, how precious life is in a universe mostly empty of it, and the lengths we will go to protect the ones we love.
