With filming set to begin at the end of the month, director Justin Reardon is now tying down the rest of the cast that will join Chris Evans and Michelle Monaghan in his debut feature. And for his first film, he's getting quite a nice assist on talent.
Some of our favorite up-and-comers, reliable character actors, and stone-cold veterans are rounding out the cast with Anthony Mackie, Aubrey Plaza, Giovanni Ribisi, Topher Grace and Philip Baker Hall all set to the join the picture. The Black List-approved script (it was also a 2011 Nicholl Fellowship Finalist) by Chris Shafer and Paul Vicknair is described as being along the lines of "Amelie" and "(500) Days Of Summer," and tells the story of a man (Evans) who has given up on love, until he meets an engaged woman (Monaghan) at a charity dinner, by posing as a philanthropist, He pretends to be her platonic friend, all while trying to win her for himself, away from a man who doesn't like going on dates. Quirky!
No word yet on what roles the folks in this ensemble will be taking, except that Grace will play Evans' best friend. The story on this could really go either way, but we trust the cast here and hopefully it won't be drowning in twee romance. You can probably expect this one on the festival circuit sometime next year. [Variety/Deadline]
