After eleven weeks, it finally happened —"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" finally exited the top ten at the box office. But as the biggest domestic grossing movie all time, culling a total of $2 billion worldwide, the film’s performance is nothing to be ashamed of. And Disney is set to get another crack at that big "Star Wars" money when the movie drops on Blu-ray and DVD, and some details have been revealed about special features as such.
Stitch Kingdom has dug up the artwork and specs for the release (there’s no release date yet), which puts fan fave BB-8 right on the cover. Among the extras are standard featurettes, but more interesting aspects include the full cast table read of the script and deleted scenes. There has been much speculation about what J.J. Abrams shot and cut from the film that might end up on the disc, and Oscar nominated editors Mary Jo Markey and Maryann Brandon teased what they know of the sequences that might be included to The Independent.
"…there aren’t a lot. There’s one with Harrison Ford, there’s one with Rey, but there aren’t a lot," Brandon said.
"I think there are maybe seven or eight, I don’t know if that’s a lot. I remember looking at the reel. Actually, I think there are seven!" Markey added.
As for the rumors about a scene where a voice from the Dark Side tells Rey to kill Kylo Ren? "No, I don’t think so. Maybe a conflict in her head. In the novelization, they have a lot more leeway with what can happen," Brandon said about the scene featured in the official movie tie-in book.
