Atticus Ross Scoring Allen Hughes' 'Broken City' With Mark Wahlberg & Russell Crowe

nullWith his next scoring gig on "47 Ronin" delayed as that film moves yet again, this time to Christmas Day 2013, Atticus Ross has a bit of extra time on his hands. And it looks like he's going to help out an old friend.

Film Music Reporter reveals that Ross has been hired to score the upcoming Allen Hughes thriller, "Broken City." Starring a pretty great cast, including Mark Wahlberg, Russell Crowe, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jeffrey Wright, Kyle Chandler, Griffin Dunne, James Ransone and more, the story follows Billy Taggart (Wahlberg), an ex-cop thrown off the force after shooting a 16-year-old kid. Eight years on, he’s working as a private detective and is hired by the colorful incumbent (Crowe) in the New York mayoral race to investigate his wife’s (Zeta-Jones) infidelity. Taggart, however, digs up much, much more, including a shady real estate deal that points to city corruption.

While Ross is best known in the film world for his work with Trent Reznor on "The Social Network" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," he is a very familiar face with the Hughes Brothers. He scored their TV series "Touching Evil" (alongside his wife and brother, Claudia Sarne and Leopold Ross) as well as "The Book of Eli" and Albert's segment in "New York, I Love You." Now it's Allen's turn to borrow his talents for his solo outing. With the film's release coming up just around the corner, we will hopefully be seeing a trailer soon, but Ross is hopefully an indication of the kind of tone this promising film will have.

We'll see the results when the film opens on January 18, 2013.
