There are two types of film fans when it comes to sneak peeks and trailers. You have the cinephile that wants to enter a film without knowing anything (or as little as possible), able to judge the film with no preconceived notions. Then you have the rest of us, those who devour all the trailers, TV spots, and sneak peeks because we are impatient and excited folk. For those of us in the latter category and those hyped for Sandra Bullock’s “Bird Box,” Netflix has something special for you.
Even though the film launches globally tomorrow on the streaming service, Netflix has gone ahead and released an extended peek at the beginning of the film. The five-minute video seems to be a re-edit of the first 10 or so minutes of “Bird Box” and while it doesn’t give away all the twists and turns, those hoping to go in with zero knowledge should probably leave the video alone. However, those just desperate to see what Netflix, Sandra Bullock, and director Susanne Bier have up their sleeve with this new thriller, today’s your lucky day.
“Bird Box” stars the aforementioned Bullock as a mother hoping to protect her children from a malevolent force that is able to use your vision against you, taking the form of your worst fears. To combat this, the characters in this world don blindfolds and attempt to live out their days without vision.
“Bird Box” launches on Netflix on December 21.
Here’s the synopsis:
