Counting Crows Frontman Teams With Broken Lizard For 'Freeloaders'

A lot of rock-related movie news today. Not all of it is good of course. Mop-topped Counting Crows singer Adam Duritz is teaming-up with the comedy troupe Broken Lizard (“Beerfest,” “Super Troopers,” “Club Dread”) for a new comedy project called, “Freeloaders.”

Duritz is producing the film the centers on “around five guys and a girl who live in the lap of luxury in a rock star’s mansion. But their sweet situation is threatened when the rock star decides to sell the home.”

Gee, what a story. They probably spent years fleshing that concept out, huh?

While geeks will probably vehemently disagree, the Broken Lizard troupe and their films are generally incredibly juvenile and unfunny, with comedy that makes Judd Apatow films look like its written by guys with PHD’s. Sure, there are some sophomoric-ally amusing moments in both, “Beerfest” and “Super Troopers” (“Club Dread,” is fucking godawful), but generally these guys can’t make movies for shit and think they’re about 10,000 times funnier than they actually are (and god, some of the humor is so damn corny).

Whatever, best of luck to them all.
