The Hollywood Reporter passed an investigation check on the casting for the upcoming big-budget “Dungeons & Dragons” movie, and is reporting that Rodriguez and Smith are the new additions to the cast which already included Chris Pine. As previously reported, Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are casting Charm Person and directing the feature film based on the massively popular fantasy role-playing game. The duo previously made one of the best comedies of the last decade, “Game Night,” so things are looking up for the new adaptation. Goldstein and Daley also wrote the latest version of the script based on a previous draft written by Michael Gilio.
The “Dungeons & Dragons” film is being made by Paramount and eOne, and is reportedly the first project in a much bigger universe that will include TV shows. At the moment it is still unclear whether the feature film will take place within the world and lore of the game — like the disastrous 2000 adaptation — or if it will be a “Jumanji” situation of people trapped in a game.

The most pressing question, however, is what class Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, and Chris Pine’s characters will be. At first glance, we can imagine Rodriguez as a tough warrior, or even a rogue, Smith as a cleric or wizard, and Pine could easily play a paladin or even a cool, music-playing bard.
