Disney+ Day is upon us. Along with the streaming premieres of “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings” and “Jungle Cruise,” and season two of “The World According To Jeff Goldblum,” the celebration also includes updates on many upcoming Marvel and Star Wars series.
Phase 4 is underway on the Marvel front, with three films and four TV shows already released. Next up on the calendar is “Hawkeye.” The new show follows Clint Barton after the events of “Avengers: Endgame” as he trains a new protege and reckons with his life as the vigilante killer Ronin.
Here’s the show’s official synopsis from Marvel:
“Disney+ and Marvel Studios invite you on an unexpected holiday getaway with Hawkeye, a new series set in post-blip New York City. Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.”
Jeremy Renner returns as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, with Hailee Steinfeld joining his side as Kate Bishop. The show also stars Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy Jones, and Alaqua Fox. Keep a lookout for Florence Pugh, too, as Yelena Belova/Black Widow.
With a spin-off already in development for Alaqua Fox’s character Maya Lopez/Echo, expect “Hawkeye” to help set up other Phase 4 films/series in 2022. “She-Hulk” and “Moon Knight” are seemingly the next shows on the horizon, with “Ms. Marvel” not far behind.
