Yesterday’s Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon was notable for a number of reasons, but mainly for its premiere of the new “Joker” teaser (which went public earlier today). However, “Joker” wasn’t the only DC film that got the spotlight during the presentation, with a couple of 2020 releases showing off some footage and interviews with the cast and crew.
Coming in early 2020 is the Margot Robbie-led “Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).” According to reports (via Deadline), there was just a brief snippet of footage shown, but also quick soundbites from director Cathy Yan and Robbie.
Yan said, about the film’s setting, “This is not Batman’s Gotham. Our Gotham is so much scrappier.”
Robbie, on the other hand, wanted to note how the ridiculously long title for the film is indicative of the tone that fans can expect from the upcoming R-rating team-up film.
“I love long titles. It’s batshit crazy,” Robbie said.
“Birds of Prey” stars Robbie as Harley Quinn, as well as Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, and Ewan McGregor.
The other film that got a bit of spotlight is the 2020 film “Wonder Woman 1984,” which sees star Gal Gadot team up with director Patty Jenkins yet again to tell the further adventures of Diana Prince. And according to both ladies, ‘WW84’ shows a new version of Wonder Woman and its not just because of the new period setting.

“Diana is now at her full powers,” Jenkins said.
Gadot added, “It makes me want to work harder to do something even more special.”
As mentioned, “Birds of Prey” hits theaters on February 7, 2020, and “Wonder Woman 1984” arrives shortly after on June 5, 2020.
