More 'Scott Pilgrim' First Looks: Alison Pill, Kieran Culkin & Brie Larson

Update: We’ve been asked to remove the photos taken from Canadian paparazzi sites. Instead we’ve switched out the photos with the same cast members taken from Edgar Wright’s myspace photo blog.

Photos: from Edgar Wright’s “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World,” that just started principal photography in Toronto, Canada.

The snaps give us our first look at Alison Pill sporting a fitting, red-haired coif as Kim Pine, the drummer of Sex Bob-Omb and Scott Pilgrim’s ex-girlfriend and Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Pilgrim’s gay and wryly sarcastic roommate.

As you’ll recall, “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” is the story of a Canadian slacker (Scott Pilgrim) who must defeat his new girlfriend’s seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart of his latest flame Ramona Flowers (as played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead).

The shots of Michael Cera as the titular hero aren’t unlike some of the shots Edgar Wright has already posted on his blog (looks like that blue parka is going to be his signature look).

The director continues to reveal cast members on his myspace and photoblog. Most recently he posted a first look photobooth shot of himself, Cera and Brie Larson as Envy Adams (Pilgrim’s own evil ex-girlfriend in the ‘Scott Pilgrim’ graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’ Malley). She also just scored a gig in Noah Baumbach’s “Greenburg.”

Also posted was a shot of a magazine cover promoting an appearance by Montreal art-rockers The Clash At Demonhead, a band that Larson’s character fronts. Toronto residents will appreciate the detail as the font and aesthetics mirror the look of the Toronto weekly Now Magazine as it used to look in the late ’90s/ early aughts. ‘Scott Pilgrim’ is currently shooting and we’ll probably see shots of all the cast members in costume soon enough. The film is not expected until sometime in 2010. Canadian indie-rockers Sloan, Metric, Broken Social Scene, and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich are all involved in the making of the film’s soundtrack and the music for the bands in the movie.
