Well, thankfully, the film is coming to theaters soon and Magnolia has released a new trailer for “Once Were Brothers.” As the title suggests, the film is a music documentary about the title musician and his musical group, aptly titled The Band. “Once Were Brothers” obviously uses plenty of archival footage, but the film also features interviews with many of Robbie Robertson’s friends and collaborators including Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Martin Scorsese, Taj Mahal, Peter Gabriel, David Geffen, and Ronnie Hawkins.

The doc comes from director Daniel Roher. Film fans probably recognize the name based on his previous work on films such as “Sourtoe: The Story of the Sorry Cannibal” and “Ghosts of Our Forest.” And yes, as you probably see from the trailer, the film is executive produced by Martin Scorsese, Brian Grazer, and Ron Howard.

“Once Were Brothers” arrives in theaters on February 21.

Here’s the synopsis:

ONCE WERE BROTHERS: ROBBIE ROBERTSON AND THE BAND is a confessional, cautionary, and occasionally humorous tale of Robertson’s young life and the creation of one of the most enduring groups in the history of popular music, The Band. The film is a moving story of Robertson’s personal journey, overcoming adversity and finding camaraderie alongside the four other men who would become his brothers in music, together making their mark on music history. ONCE WERE BROTHERS blends rare archival footage, photography, iconic songs and interviews with Robertson’s friends and collaborators including Martin Scorsese, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, and more.
