There are actors that work years searching for that breakout role in a film that will enter them into the awards conversation and lead to a huge new level in their career. Then, there are folks like Julia Fox, who are able to land a role of a lifetime really early in their careers and become a sensation right out of the gate, as she did in “Uncut Gems.” Now, Fox is hoping to keep that buzz going with her new film “PVT Chat.”
With “PVT Chat” hitting select theaters this Friday and VOD next week, we are happy to give our readers an exclusive look at a clip from the new drama that stars Julia Fox as an internet dominatrix. Yes, you read that right. In the film, Fox plays a woman that charges men obscene amounts of money so that she can degrade humiliate them on webcam. And while that might not entice some people, Fox’s character catches the eye of one man that takes his obsession to the next level and starts to blur the lines of fantasy and reality.
“PVT Chat” comes from writer-director Ben Hozie. And if you’re familiar with Fox’s previous film, “Uncut Gems,” and the work of the Safdie Brothers, you can see there are some similarities to the style seen in Hozie’s film. There is a grit, almost documentary-like, to “PVT Chat” that creates this feeling that these characters really exist and you’re a fly on the wall to a situation that is escalating in a scary way.
Fox stars opposite Peter Vack, who plays the man that becomes smitten for the sex worker. Vack is probably best known for his role on the recent HBO Max series, “Love Life.”
As mentioned, “PVT Chat” arrives in theaters on February 5 and then on VOD on February 9. You can watch the exclusive clip from the film below.
