Are you familiar with the phrase, “The rich get richer?” Well, in the case of Wes Anderson, that is most definitely the case. With every new film project the director works on, he brings in more and more big-name actors to join his ever-growing troupe. It’s bad enough the man was able to snag Tom Hanks and Margot Robbie for the upcoming “Asteroid City.” But for his new-new film, “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” Anderson got Benedict Cumberbatch to headline. But he’s far from done.
According to Deadline, Wes Anderson has enlisted the acting talents of Rupert Friend and Richard Ayoade to join “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.” As mentioned, the two gentlemen join Cumberbatch in the cast. They also join already-announced actors such as Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley, and Ralph Fiennes.
Rupert Friend is no stranger to Anderson films, having appeared in the recent ‘French Dispatch’ and the upcoming “Asteroid City.” But he’s also known for roles in projects such as “The Death of Stalin” and “Homeland.” He’s also set to appear in “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” Ayoade is best known for his iconic role in “I.T. Crowd,” but he’s also appeared in projects such as “The Souvenir” (and its sequel) and “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain.”
And just like Wes Anderson’s most recent film, “The French Dispatch,” ‘Wonderful Story’ is said to be an anthology film consisting of three smaller stories. The film is based on the book of the same name from iconic author, Roald Dahl.
A release date for “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” has yet to be announced. Filming is expected to begin soon.
