As far as superhero film themes go, there are a few that stand out above the rest. You have John Williams’ theme from “Superman.” Then there’s Danny Elfman’s “Batman” theme. And you could argue the “Avengers” theme from Alan Silvestri is the most iconic modern example. All that to say, there are a lot of expectations when a new superhero film theme is released, let alone for a character as legendary as Batman. So, how will Michael Giacchino’s theme from “The Batman” stack up? Find out for yourself.

In anticipation of the upcoming release of “The Batman,” Warner Bros. has released the official theme from “The Batman,” composed by Michael Giacchino. And though it definitely is memorable, right off the bat, it’s definitely a departure from the music heard in Elfman’s score from 1989’s “Batman.” Of course, that’s fitting, considering just how different “The Batman” seems to be from other adaptations of the source material.
For those unfamiliar, Giacchino is no stranger to superhero film scores. Previously, he’s worked on music for films such as “Doctor Strange,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” In addition to “The Batman,” he’s also working on the music for the upcoming “Thor: Love and Thunder.” So yeah, Giacchino knows a thing or two about epic themes for superheroes.
