Steven Soderbergh is definitely the type of filmmaker who likes to work with people more than once. And there might not be an actor he has teamed up with more than Don Cheadle. So, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise the duo are reuniting to produce a new HBO Max series, “The Other Hamilton.”
According to Variety, Steven Soderbergh and Don Cheadle will produce “The Other Hamilton,” which tells the story of one of the first Black millionaire. The show focuses on Jeremiah Hamilton, a Haitian immigrant turned Wall Street tycoon in the 1800s, who used questionable methods to achieve his success. “The Other Hamilton” comes from writers Carlos Foglia (“Lore”), Ashley Nicole Black (“A Black Lady Sketch Show”), and Keith Josef Adkins (“The Good Fight”).
As mentioned, Cheadle and Soderbergh have a long history together, dating back to the film, “Out of Sight.” After that, they teamed up on “Traffic,” the “Ocean’s Eleven” film series, and most recently, “No Sudden Move.” “The Other Hamilton” is the latest in Soderbergh’s new deal with WarnerMedia. He’s already directed the aforementioned “No Sudden Move,” as well as “Let Them All Talk” and the upcoming “KIMI” for HBO Max. He’s also working on a new series, “Full Circle.”
A release date for “The Other Hamilton” isn’t known at this time. However, it’s hard not to be excited right now for any new project produced by Soderbergh and Cheadle. So, let’s hope this one comes sooner than later.
