We didn’t adore “Lovely, Still” in the least; the debut feature from 24-year-old Omaha director Nik Fackler (he’s got ties to the whole Saddle Creek label and those guys scored the film) and we’re not entirely convinced about him in general, but let’s give him a break. He’s young and he’s got some decent intentions. During a screening of the film at TIFF, he talked about the film, how he came up with the story of two senior citizens falling in love, and how he got Martin Landau and Ellen Burstyn to appear in the film. Not to mention Elizabeth Banks and Adam Scott (“Step Brothers”).
