They’re creepy and they’re spooky and altogether kooky, we all know the Addams are the weirdest family on the block. Since the ’30s, “The Addams Family” has been a staple in the weird and wacky world of Hollywood. With a popular show back in the ’60s, two movies in the ’90s, and two animated features in the 2010s, the Addams Family shows no sign of leaving our screens anytime soon. Finally, fan-favorite character Wednesday Addams will be receiving her own show by none other than Tim Burton. Hopefully, that name sounds familiar, if not Burton has most likely been a part of your life at some stage.

From big blockbusters like “Batman” to Disney’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Burton has worked on everything he can get his hands on, and it’s no secret that he has a particular aesthetic when it comes to his work. So it makes perfect sense that he’s working on the deliciously macabre “Wednesday” show.
The show will be directed by Gandja Monteiro, James Marshall, and Burton. “Wednesday” will be executively produced by Steve Stark (“Medium”), Andrew Mittman(“The Addams Family”), Kevin Miserocchi (“Charles Addams Foundation”), Kayla Alpert (“Code Black”), Jonathan Glickman(“Addams Family Values”), and Gail Berman (“The Addams Family”).
Here’s the official synopsis:
Wednesday is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting 16-year-old Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Season One will follow Wednesday as she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
“Wednesday” will see Jenna Ortega take on the lead role. Christina Ricci portrayed Wednesday in both the “Addams Family” and the “Addams Family Values.” But now, it’s time for Ortega, who was recently seen in “Scream,” to take over the role.
Ortega is joined by Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Gwendoline Christie, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Georgie Farmer, Naomi Ogawa, and Moosa Mostafa in the cast.
“Wednesday” will debut on Netflix sometime this year. Watch the first teaser below:
