This weekend will likely find Tom Cruise once again on top of the box office when his latest, and very hotly buzzed “Edge Of Tomorrow,” drops into theaters (read our two reviews here). It will be another career notch in the belt for the actor who already has quite a few, but one could argue his status as blockbuster action hero may have never happened if not for “Top Gun.”
And so, Screen Junkies uses the occasion of a new Cruise flick to give the Honest Trailer treatment to “Top Gun” and as usual, it’s spot on. It’s a look at the movie that points out it’s hokiness, clichés and sizzling homoeroticism, while also celebrating the fact it’s also a damn good flick, and possibly still the pinnacle of Cruise’s multiplex efforts.
