Watch: New Trailer For Rick Alverson's Absurd And Hilarious 'Entertainment'

Entertainment, Rick AlversonMove over Alicia Vikander —it looks like 2015 is going to belong to Gregg Turkington. The host of the one of the most important film criticism shows ever, "On Cinema At The Cinema," Turkington has been quietly showing off his tremendous acting talent. After impressing with his guest turn on "Decker," Marvel snatched him up for "Ant-Man" earlier this year in a key role, and just like that, he’s now leading his own movie, "Entertainment."

Of course, I’m being a bit cheeky, but the picture comes from Rick Alverson, the man behind "The Comedy," and this time around, with a script co-written by both Turkington and Tim Heidecker, he puts together a unique, oddball movie about an aging comedian. Here’s the official synopsis:

A broken, aging comedian tours the California desert, lost in a cycle of third-rate venues, novelty tourist attractions, and vain attempts to reach his estranged daughter. By day, he slogs through the barren landscape, inadvertently alienating every acquaintance. At night, he seeks solace in the animation of his onstage persona. Fueled by the promise of a lucrative Hollywood engagement, he trudges through a series of increasingly surreal and volatile encounters. In Alverson’s hallucinatory fugue, Gregg Turkington stars as The Comedian, caught in a struggle between being the center of attention and the object of alienation, occasionally challenged by an unexpected cast of characters played by Tye Sheridan, John C. Reilly, Michael Cera, and Amy Seimetz.

"Entertainment" opens on November 13th and hits iTunes the same day. Check out the trailer below and read our review.
