Watch: 'Terminator Genisys' Parody Trailer Explores The Many Paradoxes Of The Franchise

Terminator GenisysHe always said he’d be back, and the one thing the Terminator’s not is a liar. On July 1, 2015, Arnold Schwarzenegger returns in “Terminator Genisys” (um… no, that’s not a typo on our end). This latest installment in the James Cameron-launched franchise places us in 2029, where John Connor (played by Jason Clarke) is leading the resistance against the machines that have taken over the planet. When John learns of a new SkyNet plan to attack him in both the past and the future, he concocts a plot of his own to use terminators in both the past and the future to defeat the…

You know what? We could try to explain how it all works, but this glorious parody trailer (via Live for Films) does it so much better while diving into the oddities and paradoxes of the series. And in case you have any doubts while/after watching, we can assure you that “Terminator Genisys” is an actual movie with an actual release date that actually features Schwarzenegger as a T-800. Still don’t believe us? Here’s the official trailer, for comparison’s sake.

And yes, fanboys rejoice —that’s Emilia Clarke (no relation to Jason) as young Sarah Connor. She doesn’t (seem to) have any dragons backing her up in this series, but she seems pretty handy with a gun in her capacity as mama Connor. Oh, and J.K. Simmons is in the movie, though you can’t tell that from either trailer. So that’s good.

‘Genisys’ —again, why?— is directed by Alan Taylor, whose resume is primarily television credits (including a half dozen “Game of Thrones” episodes), but who recently helmed “Thor: The Dark World.” Check for more updates as we get closer to opening day.
